Tropical Cyclone OCKHI continued to move west-northwestwards still as a Tropical Storm. On 1 December at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located 130 km north-east of Minicoy city (Maliku island, Lakshadweep archipelago, India).
Over the next 48 hours it is forecast to move north-northwestwards over the Arabian Sea passing south-west of Kavaratti island (Lakshadweep islands) and intensify further. Heavy rain to very heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge may occur over Lakshadweep islands and Kerala as well as over the western and southern coast of Sri Lanka.
According to national authorities, as of 1 December at 8.00 UTC, seven people have been killed, at least eight have gone missing, 30 have been injured and over 12 000 houses have been damaged in the provinces of Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragam uwa (Sri Lanka).
