SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 09.07.2009

RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

ASSAM

- Light to moderate rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State during last 24 hours.

- No human death has been reported in the State during last 24 hours.

- About 2.07 lakh population in 08 districts are reported to have been affected in the State due to flood so far.

- 02 relief camps have also been opened in the affected areas.

KERALA

- Light rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State during last 24 hours.

- No human death has been reported in the State during last 24 hours.

- About 25699 people are reported to have been affected.

- 1433.28 ha cropped area have been affected.

- 4529 houses have been damaged.

KARNATAKA

- Light to moderate rainfall has been reported in some parts of State during last 24 hours.

- No human death has been reported in the State during last 24 hours.

- 852 cattle/livestock have been perished.

- 1627 houses have been damaged.

INDIA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT

- The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Phulodi, Ajmer, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Daltonganj, Midnapur, Sagar Island and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. It extends upto 2.1 km above mean sea level.

- A low pressure area is likely to form over westcentral and adjoining northwest way of Bengal around 12th July.

CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION

- There are 04 Moderate flood situation sites in the country.

RAINFALL SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY DURING LAST 24 HOURS

- Light to moderate with isolated heavy falls has been reported in some parts of Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and in some parts of Northeastern States during last 24 hours.
