SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 06.07.2009

RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

ASSAM

- Light to moderate rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State.

- No human death has been reported in the State during last 24 hours.

- 55 cattle/livestock have been perished.

- About 1.44 lakh population and 201 villages in 07 districts have been affected.

- 3 Relief camps and 2 shelter sites have been opened.

- 01 team of NDRF continues to be deployed in the flood affected areas.

KERALA

- Light to moderate with isolated heavy rainfall has been reported.

- 03 human deaths have been reported in the State during last 24 hours.

- 08 cattle/livestock have been perished

- About 23270 people and are reported to have been affected.

- 1160.20 ha cropped area have been affected

- 3993 houses have been damaged.

- 04 relief camps have been opened in which about 326 people are staying

KARNATAKA

- Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State during last 24 hours.

- 05 human deaths have been reported in the State.

- 852 cattle/livestock have been perished.

- 587 houses (fully - 09, partially - 578) have been damaged.

DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) ON 6th JULY, 2009

- In Assam, 01 team consisting 25 personnel with equipment deployed since June 27, 2009 in North Lakhimpur.

- In West Bengal, 01 team consisting of 47 personnel alongwith equipment positioned in Darjeeling since July 03, 2009.

- In Maharashtra, 05 teams of NDRF Bn consisting of 181 personnel along with doctor and paramedics positioned at Mumbai.

INDIA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT

- An off-shore trough extends from south Gujarat coast to Kerala coast. Under its influence, active monsoon condition is likely to continue over west coast of India during next 2-3 days with further increase in intensity thereafter.

- A low pressure area has formed over Jharkhand and Neighbourhood. Under its influence fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is likely over east India and adjoining Chhattisgarh during next 48 hours.

- Good monsoon activity is likely over central India during next 4-5 days with extension into Gujarat and interior Maharashtra from 8th onwards.

CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION

There are 04 Moderate flood situation sites in the country.

RAINFALL SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY DURING LAST 24 HOURS

Heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall has been reported in some parts of Assam, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Orissa, Goa and in some Northeastern States.
