RAINFALL SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY (during last 24 hours)
ANDHRA PRADESH
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy showers has been reported in some parts of the State. Some of the rainfall figures are (in cm): Kalla-17.7, Vizianagarm-13.4, Jami-12.6, Vararamachandrapur-12.4, Sompet 12.0, Bheemavaram-11.6, Yelamanchili-11.0, Polavaram & Palakoderu-10.5 each.
- Rivers Panga, Tandra and Pileru vagus are flowing above their danger levers in East Godavari district.
- Due to overflow of above rivers, crop areas in low lying areas are reported to have been inundated.
WEST BENGAL
- No significant rainfall has been reported in the State.
- 2095 relief camps continue to run in the affected districts in which 3,82,455 people are accommodated.
ORISSA
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been reported in the State. Some of the rainfall figures are (in cm): Jenapur & Pottangi - 4.0, Bhubaneshwar, Kendrapara, Malkangiri and Soro - 3.0 each.
- About 43.10 lakh people in 5484 villages are reported so far to have been affected severely.
ASSAM
- No significant rainfall has been reported in the State.
- Following improvement in the flood situation, the relief camps running in the affected districts of the State have since been closed.
BIHAR
- Light to moderate rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State. v 09 human deaths (Samastipur-8 & Gopalganj-1) have been reported in the State - 11,190 villages in 22 districts with population of 237.50 lakh are reported to have been affected so far.
LOSS OF HUMAN LIVES
As per provisional information received from the affected States, 72 human deaths have been reported during the last 24 hrs. The cumulative number of people who have lost their lives during the South West Monsoon so far is 3282.
IMD
- A low pressure area has formed over west central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast. The system is likely to become more marked. It is likely to cause fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy fall over coastal areas of north Andhra Pradesh and south Orissa during next 48 hours.
- With likely northward movement of the system, the rainfall activity is likely to shift to parts of northeastern states and east India from 7th onwards.
CWC
- There are 12 Moderate and 13 Low flood situation sites. There is no unprecedented or high flood situation site.
