RAINFALL SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY (during last 24 hours)

ASSAM

- Light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls has been reported in some parts of the State.

- With the receding of water, the situation in Golaghat, Shivsagar, Cachar, Karimganj and Hailkandi districts is improving gradually and returning to normalcy.

- About 1,72,892 population in 237 villages continues to be affected in Cachar district.

- The railway communication between Tezpur -Murkokseleng continues to be suspended.

- So far, about 1112 PWD roads and 605 semi permanent timber bridges are reported to have been damaged/washed away in the State.

- So far, 6412 villages in 26 districts with population of 70.15 lakh are reported to have been affected so far in the state.

- 75 Relief Camps continue to run in the State in which 11,288 people have been accommodated.

UTTARAKHAND

- Light to moderate rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State.

- In Chamoli district, traffic movement on Joshimuth National Highway (NH-108) has been restored.

- In Uttarkashi district, traffic movement on Gangotri Marg (NH-58) has also been restored.

BIHAR

- Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported in some parts of the State.

- 05 human deaths have been reported in the State during last 24 hours.

- So far, 10,450 villages in 21 districts (235 blocks & 2881 Panchayats) with population of 217.24 lakh are reported to have been affected in the state.

- 573 medical teams continue to be deployed in the affected districts of the State to provide medical care.

- 1348 Relief Camps continue to run in the State in which about 9,99,983 people have been accommodated.

GUJARAT

- Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported in a few parts of the State.

- So far, 937 villages in 29 districts with population of about 14.87 lakh are reported to have been affected in the state.

- 179 Medical Teams consisting of 95 Medical Officers and 371 Para Medical Staff continue to be deployed in the affected districts of the State for providing medical care.

WEST BENGAL

- Heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls have been reported in some parts of the State.

- 09 human deaths (Darjeeling - 8 and Jalpaiguri -01) have been reported in the State during last 24 hrs.

- The traffic movement on National Highway (NH-55) connecting road links to Siliguri-Darjeeling and National Highway (NH-31A) connecting road links to Siliguri-Gangtok continues to be suspended.

- 17 Relief camps still continue to run in the State in which about 850 persons have been accommodated.

Loss of Human lives

- As per provisional information received from the affected States, 14 human deaths have been reported during the last 24 hrs. The cumulative number of people who have lost their lives during the South West Monsoon so far is 2508.

IMD

- The axis of the monsoon trough at sea level passes through Anoopgarh, Muzaffarnagar, Khiri, Chhapra, Asansol, Contai and thence southeastwards to East-Central Bay of Bengal. A secondary trough also runs from Bihar to North-East Assam across Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim.

- Current meteorological analysis and numerical weather prediction models suggest that widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh during next 2-3 days. Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls are also likely over Nagaland Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal & Sikkim during the same period.
