NATURE OF HAZARD: FLOODS
No significant rainfall has been received
in last 24hours in Jammu and Kashmir. Water level has started to recede
in both Rivers Chenab as well as Jhelum. The five affected districts were
Pulwama, Anantnag, Srinagar ,Badgam and Udhampur districts.
Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall has been received in several districts in Orissa. District wise rainfall (cm) is as follows: Bhubneshwar-12, Balasore district -8.3, Jaipur-8.5and and Mayurbhanj district-7.5, Keonjhargarh-4. All rivers in the state are flowing below the danger levels. Water level is receding in Vamsdhara and Mahanadi rivers.
All other rivers in the State have started rising. Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported in Chattisgarh in several parts of the state. Some rainfall figures (in cm) are Raipur and Durg -9 each, Champa and Rajnandgaon-7each, Jagdalpur-5 and Rajgarh-4.
IMD Forecast: Heavy to very heavy falls at a few places are likely over west Madhya Pradesh and Southeast Rajasthan during next 24 hours. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are also likely over north Madhya Maharashtra, Northeast Rajasthan and Gujarat region during the same period.
CURRENT SITUATION:
Jammu and Kashmir
Water levels for river Jhelum have come down to 25.75 as against the danger level of 21ft. Where as, river Chenab in Jammu division, is flowing below the danger level. Jhelum though is still above danger level but is flowing with a falling trend at Sangam.
The Jammu Srinagar National Highway (NH-1A) has been reopened for one way traffic and will be fully operational today The Srinagar-Leh highway has also been reopened. A stretch of 100meters along the Jammu -Srinagar national Highway at Chursoo and 1km stretch at Barsoo both near Avantipura continue to be submerged under flood waters. However the traffic movement between Srinagar and Anantnag has been diverted through the bypass road.
444 villages of the five affected districts have been inundated by flood waters (Anantnag-221, Budgam-67, Srinagar-86 and Pulwama-68 Baramulla-02).
8 villages in Jammu district have been inundated by flood waters. 32 internal roads in Udhampur district continue to be blocked due to landslides/breaches.
Rajasthan
The situation in Kawas Village was critical because large areas continued to be submerged under flood waters. Several villages in Jhalawar and Kota districts were marooned
Orissa- Angul : Two blocks are affected. Water is receding in Tikarpada
Cuttack : Banki subdivision is still affected. 14 blocks are affected.75roads were cutoff 63 are restored. 3 villages with 1017 population is still marooned.
Kendrapada: Situation is critical due to heavy rains. 6 blocks are affected. In Kendrapara district due to two breaches in the embankment of the distributaries of river Mahanadi (river Luna and Chitroptala), 40-50 villages in 04 blocks have been inundated (Kendrapara,Marshaghai,Gardpur and Mahakalpada) Efforts are being made to close the breaches.
Jagatsinghpur : 7blocks(Kujang,Tirtol,Balikuda,Birdi, Naugaon ,Raghunathpur and Jagatsinghpur) have been affected. Number of roads has been disrupted due to flood waters. Situation is being monitored. 1500 people have been evacuated to safer places and provided with free kitchen. Ukusahi(Anupal) and Kulasamatarapur of Samantarapur G.P. are still marooned.
Mayurbhanj:. Heavy rainfall is reported in the upper catchments of Budhabalanga and Sono river and there if rains continues chance of flash flood to occur.
Khordha: 10 blocks have been affected
Livestock affected - 13624
Roads cut off - 16 roads
41 villages and 4 hamlets having a population of 20,857 have been marooned. 16 roads have been cut off. A number of rural roads have been washed away.
Jajpur : Blocks affected - 10
Situation is under control in the district and all the rivers are flowing below the danger level.
Puri : 11 blocks have been affected. Almost all the major rivers are in a receding trend and the flood situation is likely to improve. Kanas and Delang blocks are the worst affected.
Boudh : 3 blocks are affected in this district. NH 224 near Jamtangi (from Boudh- Manmunda) has been disrupted.
Road at Kapsira from Manmunda to Kantamal and at Adagudi Nalla and Mallikud on the road from Kantamal to Ghantapada has been disrupted.
Nayagarh : 3 blocks are affected(Gania, Bhapur&Khandapara) Road from Gania to Manibhadra to Chhamundia and Chhamundia to Badmul have been affected in Gania district
Mayurbhanj : Due to heavy rainfall Flash flood occurred in the district. The bridge at Badampahad on Suleipat-badampahad-Jhaldunguri road has collapsed.
Subarnpur- 6 blocks have been affected. 6 braches have occurred and 7 roads had been cut off 2 roads have been repaired.
Kandhamal ; 12 blocks have been affected. 84 families of Tumudibandha have been marooned. 5Panchayats of Kotagarh block, 7 panchayats of Baliguda in Phiringia block have remained cut off from block headquarters due to damage of roads.1136 roads and culverts have been damaged.
Chattisgarh In Rajnandgaon district, 50-60 houses were marooned because of flooding in local nalah. However, the district administration has reportedly rescued all the marooned families to safety. Water logging has also been reported in some areas in Raipur district.
