On 10 April, severe storms brought heavy rain, lightning, and hail to the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand in northern India, resulting in loss of life and damage.
As of 11 April, according to media reports, at least 47 people have been killed, with 25 fatalities reported in Bihar and 22 in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, four people were injured in Jharkhand. The storms have also caused significant crop losses.
Over the next 48 hours, the weather forecast indicates moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in northern and northeastern India. In response, an 'orange alert' has been issued for the affected states in northern India by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
