India - Severe weather (IMD India, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 28 June 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting New Delhi in northern India, since 27 June, causing severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • As of 28 June, media report one fatality, and six injured people due to a severe weather-related incident in the Delhi airport, one damaged structure has been reported and domestic flights have been temporarily suspended.
  • Rescue operations are still ongoing.
  • Over the next 48 hours, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are still forecast over northern and western India.
