India - Severe weather, floods and landslides (India Sphere, IMD) (ECHO Daily Flash of 3 July 2025)

  • Heavy rainfall has been particularly affecting the Himachal Pradesh state, in northern India, in the last days, causing flash floods and landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.

  • According to the National Coalition of Humanitarian Agencies in India, as of 2 July, a total of 34 fatalities, 34 missing, and 74 injured people have been reported. More than 60 structures have been destroyed or partially damaged, including 59 houses, two bridges and one highway, 406 roads are still closed, and power outages have impacted more than 2,000 people.

  • Over the next 48 hours, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across the whole country. A red alert for extremely heavy rain has been issued for East Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Gonkan and Goa, and Karnataka.
