The official death count is several hundred. Several million have been evacuated from low-lying villages due to the heavy rains and massive flooding. As remote villages are reached by rescue teams, and water borne disease spreads, the death count is expected to rise.

India Partners has opened a relief fund so their indigenous partner agencies can purchase food, blankets, clean water, clothing, and medicines; and transport and distribute the aid to survivors. As of October 8, $55,000 have been raised, of the initial goal of $100,000.

India Partners has four local long-term partner agencies it will be working with to provide the relief, that include Orphans Faith Home and EFICOR. All partners have prior experience in organizing and carrying out relief efforts in their areas.

India Partners is a conduit to a broad group of indigenous Christian "rice-roots" agencies in India focused on alleviating poverty and injustice. We seek support from others who share our passion to empower change.
