On 21-22 September, Karnataka and Gujarat States (western India) were affected by heavy rain, thunderstorms and flooding caused by the Southwest Monsoon.
According to national authorities, in Guajarat 4 people died, and 70 houses were damaged. In Karnataka, heavy rain injured 4 people and 2 others are still missing. Around 5,000 people have been affected by floods, and about 115 houses were damaged.
On 24 September, rain and thunderstorms are forecast over central-western India, including Gujarat, and over north-eastern States of India.
Red alerts for heavy rain and lightning have been issued for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (northern India) for 24-25 September.
