Tropical Cyclone OCKHI continued moving over the east central Arabian Sea, weakening and heading toward the northwestern coast of India. On 5 December at 0.00 UTC its centre was located 300 km south-west of Mumbai city (Maharashtra State) and 470 km south-west of Surat city (Gujarat State) with maximum sustained winds speed of 111 km/h (Tropical Storm).

Heavy rain with very heavy rain at isolated places and strong winds may occur over the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Joint Research Centre estimates a maximum storm surge of 1.5 m along the northern coast of the Gulf of Khambhat on 6 December.

According to national authorities, as of 5 December at 8.00 UTC, 15 people have been killed, at least two have gone missing, 77 have been injured and over 34 000 houses have been damaged in Sri Lanka. Local media reported that at least 19 people were killed and over 690 fishermen were rescued in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
