India: Kashmiri quake victims to meet the Tsunami hit

TEN youths from quake-affected villages of Kashmir are in Chennai for a week as part of their training in psycho-social intervention.
The youths and their fellow villagers from Kashmir, who are suffering from post-disaster trauma and fear, would be trained as trainers in psycho-social intervention.

They would interact with the tsunami affected villagers of Cuddalore to learn how to cope with a disaster and its aftermath.

Their training would focus on areas of psychological first aid, community development, health care, sanitation, preparedness to face another disaster and medical counselling, including methods to prevent HIV-AIDS.

On their return to Kashmir, they would train 500; of their fellow villagers. The Kashmiri youth said the women of their villages were ready to come over to Chennai and get trained to help their fellow villagers.

The training is being provided by the Academy for Disaster management Education, Planning and Training (ADEPT).
