India Gujarat Floods: State Government provides Rs.5 crore relief

Jaipur, July 5. The State Government has decided to give an interim relief of Rs.five crores to Gujarat from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in view of the heavy devastation caused by floods in Gujarat.

The Chief Minister, Smt. Vasundhara Raje showing her sensitivity in this devastating tragedy has instructed that the bank draft of Rs.five crores should be sent to Gujarat immediately from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The Relief Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, Forest Minister Shri Laxmi Narayan Dave and Additional Chief Secretary Shri A.K. Pandey would go to Ahmedabad by state aircraft and handover the draft to the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

Earlier the Government of Rajasthan had also provided assistance of Rs.21.48 crores in aid of the earthquake victims of Gujarat.

Similarly, during the Tsunami tragedy along with the interim relief, the State Government had also sent a team of doctors under the leadership of the Medical and Health Minister Dr. Digamber Singh and provided medical services in the affected areas of the Tsunami tragedy. Of the Rs.19 crores collected for the Tsunami victims, the State Government had sanctioned Rs.15.29 crores for undertaking works of permanent nature. These works include schools, hospitals, community centers, storm centers, fish yards etc.
