India - Floods and landslides (IMD, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 30 June 2025)

  • Heavy monsoon rainfall has been affecting the far south-western India, mainly the Kerala state since 26 June, causing floods, rivers to overflow and triggering landslides that have resulted in casualties and widespread damage.
  • Media report, as of 30 June, ten fatalities, of whom three were across Thrissur city, two in Malappuram city, one in the Thiruvananthapuram capital city, one more in Kannur city and at least three along the Karamana river. In addition, media also report approximately 3,200 evacuated people across the state, a number of structural collapses, and several school closures.
  • Over the next 96 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over northern coastal Kerala state.
