India Flood Situation 02 Aug 2005

Moderate rains have been reported in Mumbai and Konkan region in the State during the last 24 hours. In the rest of the State, isolated light rains have been reported.
Flood water in affected districts has receded and these districts are progressively returning to normal.

A total of 853 deaths and 71 injury cases have been reported in the State.

About 200 medical teams consisting of medical officers and para-medical staff have been sent to flood affected areas for providing medical assistance and taking prevention/control measures concerning any post-flood epidemic situation.

50 medical teams are operating in suburban Mumbai and 150 teams in rural areas.

The State is organizing hygiene awareness campaign on cable/TV programmes and through press briefings for use of alum, boiling drinking water by public.
