India - Dust storm (IMD, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 23 May 2025)

  • A dust storm and very strong winds, accompanied by hailstorms and rainfall, affected northern India, in particular the Delhi city area and the National Capital Region (NCR), over 21-22 May, causing severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to the dust storm and strong wind) that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • Media report, as of 23 May, three fatalities, 11 injured people, and a number of damaged infrastructures and closed roads across the aforementioned affected area.
  • Over the next 48 hours, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning are still forecast over the already affected National Capital Region (NCR).
