LWR is providing initial grants of $ 15,000 each to the Churches Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) and the Lutheran World Federation/World Service for emergency programs in northeastern India.
Tens of thousands of people have lost their homes. Electricity and telephone lines are down throughout the area. The cyclone which struck India on October 29 was the second in two weeks to hit Orissa, one of the poorest states in India.

In addition to these emergency grants, LWR has ongoing development programs in the area to improve nutrition, health care and livelihood opportunities. LWR is accepting cash donations for this emergency. Please write "India Cyclone" on your check and mail to:
