CURRENT SITUATION
- Heavy downpours continue to lash parts of Kerala, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for three districts, including Wayanad.
- Water levels in all major rivers are rising alarmingly, and widespread mudslides have triggered an elevated risk of landslides across the state.
- A total of 456 people, including tribal families from Puzhamkuni hamlet in Sultan Bathery, have been relocated to 16 relief camps across Wayanad, Idukki and Kozhikode districts.
- Several tribal colonies remain isolated, cut off by surging floodwaters.
- 586 homes have been partially damaged 21 homes have been completely destroyed
- 1,596 high-tension and 10,573 low-tension power lines have been damaged or destroyed
- Several areas have been without electricity or mobile networks for 4 consecutive days
- The District Collector of Wayanad has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on 27-28 May.
