GONDIA: Unabated rain in Gondia district, particularly Arjuni Morgaon tehsil last week caused major damage to property and crops.
Collector Awinash Zade and other officials visited the effected villages. About 160 villages have been rehabilitated to safer places and the administration has directed the agencies to give them immediate relief.
Rain paralysed normal life, affecting Pashpanagar, Bharnoli and Ballitola on the bank of river Gadhvi. Many houses and crops got damaged in these villages.
As many as 17 families lost their shelters as the wall of a tank collapsed in Ballitola. Sources said that about 141 villagers of Pushpanagar have been rehabilitated to the ZP primary school at village Keshori.
Collector Awinash Zade, sub-divisional officer Anant Walaskar and other officers visited the affected villages on Saturday and directed tehsildar Prakash Kshirsagar, sub- divisional engineer Suresh Khawas and other officers to see that the valuation of the losses of these villagers is done on top priority and the relief be released to them immediately.
