Flood situation continues to be grim in Assam

In Assam, over 600 villages in 15 districts have been submerged in the current surge of water, affecting over 3 lakh people.

Road connectivity has been snapped at several areas in Lower and Upper Assam, with around 11,000 hectares of crop land under water.

State Disaster Management Authority said that, over three lakh people are reeling under the fury of flood. Over 1 lakh people have been affected in Barpeta district alone.

The Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level at Nematighat and Dhubri while the Beki river is flowing above the danger mark at Barpeta.

District administrations have set up relief camps in Tinsukia, Sonitpur and Goalpara district.
