Cyclone Ockhi: 9 killed in Tamil Nadu, Kerala; red warning for Lakshadweep

After wrecking havoc in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Cyclone Ockhi is moving towards Lakshadweep. A red warning has been issued for the islands and Indian MeT department said that the situation is likely to intensify further in the next 24 hours and make a landfall on Lakshadweep islands by tomorrow. NDRF team is on the ground focusing on rural districts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala. Schools and colleges in Chennai, Kanyakumari and several other parts of Tamil Nadu have been shut down. 9 people died due to the heavy rainfall and the cyclone that hit the coastal areas of southern India.
