Australians respond to victims of Orissa cyclone and Vietnam floods

Australian aid agencies have indicated that massive relief and reconstruction assistance is needed in Orissa and Vietnam following recent natural disasters.
More than 12 million people have been affected by the cyclone in the impoverished Indian state of Orissa alone, while thousands have lost their homes in the Vietnam floods.

Australian agencies are providing emergency assistance including food, water containers and roofing materials. After the immediate relief needs are met, Australian non-government organisations will provide further assistance to help the people of Orissa and Vietnam rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

The Australian Council for Overseas Aid urges ordinary Australians to lend a hand in the emergency response effort. The following agencies are conducting emergency appeals for Orissa and/or Vietnam:
