MUMBAI: A 30-member team from Adhunik Metaliks Ltd has volunteered to assist the government of Jharkhand in rescue operations of people affected in the Uttarakhand floods. Adhunik Metaliks is engaged in manufacturing alloy, special and construction steel, mining of iron and manganese ore and power generation.
The company has provided two relief camps at Hrishikesh and Jolly Grant airport at Dehradun where the victims are provided with food, shelter, drinking water, first aid along with other basic necessities. Rail ticket forms and Rs 1,000 in cash per family have also been provided by the government. Besides, the company has also made arrangements for mobile phones with a free roaming facility for those affected.
3,385 company employees have pledged their one day's salary for the cause. The company is also in talks with the district head at Gochar to set up tents that can shelter around 100-150 people.
Manoj Kumar Agarwal, managing director, Adhunik Group of Industries said, "We have successfully released around 300 people from the area. We will be happy to partner the Government of Jharkhand for any kind of development programmes to be carried on in Uttarakhand in a PPP mode." Agarwal has been making rounds of the relief camps, reviewing activities and trying to understand the needs of the people so that maximum help and support can be provided to those in need.
