EMERGENCY RELIEF & REHABILITATION

In 2006-2007 PWS&D responded to disasters caused by drought, floods, earthquakes and conflict. Emergency food water and medical supplies were provided in times of desperate need while longer-term efforts focused on rebuilding houses and essential community infrastructure. We continue to help communities rebuild after the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia and the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. We also responded to emergencies that do not make news headlines.

PWS&D maximizes relief efforts by working cooperatively with other churches through Canadian Foodgrains Bank(CFGB) and Action by Churches Together (ACT). Matching funds from CIDA also helped PWS&D respond to the tsunami and South Asia earthquake while support from the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation boosted our response to disasters in the Philippines.
