- WFP conducted two workshops on Risk Management, Anticipatory Actions, Shock Responsive Social Protection, and the review of Municipal Contingency Plans, in coordination with the National Research and Training Center of the Ministry of Contingency and Risk Management. The workshops specifically targeted community structures engaged in risk management and social protection. Their objective was to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders to effectively plan for and respond to climate-related risks, with a strong focus on early warning systems and anticipatory action frameworks.
- WFP has delivered parametric microinsurance certificates to 1,285 farmers to date, as part of efforts to strengthen the resilience of smallholder farmers to climate shocks. This initiative helps protect vulnerable rural families against climate-related losses, such as droughts or excessive rainfall, by providing a financial safety net that supports early recovery and reduces the risk of falling deeper into food insecurity.
- WFP distributed specialized nutritious food in the municipalities of Guajiquiro, San José, Tutule, and Opatoro, in the department of La Paz, reaching 1,438 children with Super Cereal Plus and 551 pregnant and breastfeeding women with Super Cereal. Additionally, WFP conducted food preparation workshops using Super Cereal (CSB) for institutional staff and community health volunteers in the departments of Copán and Ocotepeque, in western Honduras, to strengthen the use and acceptance of specialized nutritious foods at the community level.
- WFP conducted training workshops for health personnel, reaching 42 participants, with the primary objective of providing guidance on the proper use and preparation of specialized nutritious food distributed to the most vulnerable populations. This initiative aims to contribute, in the long term, to reducing the prevalence of malnutrition among prioritized groups.
- WFP facilitated four focus group discussions in the intervention areas of the Shock-Responsive Social Protection pilot in Santa Elena, La Paz, as part of the development of a case study and to gather lessons learned. A total of 55 beneficiaries participated, of whom 83% were women and 11% men, providing valuable insights to inform future program improvements.
