Operational Updates

• With the objective to integrate gender into daily business, WFP Honduras hosted a Regional Gender Equality workshop with over forty participants from country offices of the region. A field visit to the San Rafael community in Choluteca was conducted to practice acquired skills in gender analysis.

• The Concept Note of the binational project between Honduras and El Salvador for the Adaptation Fund was signed in presence of both ministries of environment and WFP country directors. The objective of the project is to improve livelihood resilience through community-based climate change adaptation in the transboundary watershed of Goascorán in El Salvador and Honduras.

• The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia donated for a third consecutive year, 600 metric tons of dates to WFP for the National School Feeding Programme. Dates will increase the nutritional value of the food ration distributed to 129,000 children in 2,947 schools of the Dry Corridor. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a strategic partner of WFP in the global fight against hunger.

• WFP in collaboration with the Secretary of Development and Social Inclusion conducted 16 capacity-building workshops at national level. In total, 595 regional, municipal and district directors, and regional liaison officers of the Secretary of Education and coordinators of the National School Feeding Programme network were trained. The purpose of the workshops was to strengthen and reinforce administrative and payment procedures at regional and local level.
