Tegucigalpa (dpa) - A youth died and two young girls were missing after heavy flooding sparked by torrential rains in Honduras, officials said Wednesday.

Firefighter spokesman Oscar Triminio said that a mentally disabled youth in Comayagua in central Honduras refused to be evacuated late Tuesday and was later swept away by the swollen Humuya river.

Five people suffered injuries in the heavy rains, and more than 100 were forced out of their homes by flooding. The Honduran weather service said that rains were forecast to continue nationwide.
