Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Honduras in Response to the Tropical Storm Sara

Today, November 19, upon the request of the Government of the Republic of Honduras, the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods (tents, blankets, plastic sheets, portable jerry cans and water purifiers) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Republic of Honduras in response to the damages caused by the Tropical Storm Sara.

In light of the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and the Republic of Honduras, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to the Republic of Honduras to support the people affected by the Tropical Storm Sara.

The Tropical Storm Sara occurred the country on November 14, resulted in a large number of those affected including the loss of lives, and significant physical damage in the Republic of Honduras. According to the Government of the Republic of Honduras, as of November 18, 2 people died, approximately 12,000 people evacuated, and 128,000 people were affected.
