Operational Updates

  • As part of its emergency response, WFP transferred USD 1 million to 46,110 people and distributed 123 mt of food commodities to 27,900 people. WFP also distributed 288,822 hot meals in September in two towns at the border with the Dominican Republic to repatriated Haitians and in the Metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince to support internally displaced people (IDPs), especially following displacements due to violence in the Carrefour-Feuille and Savane Pistaches neighborhoods.

  • Since the start of the 2023-2024 school year on 11 September, through the school feeding programme,
    WFP reached 309,452 schoolchildren with 676 mt, including 184,811 school children assisted through the home-grown school feeding programme with 109 mt of locally-sourced products.

  • In September, as part of WFP’s resilience activities, 12,785 people conducted activities to rehabilitate and construct community assets. USD 2.2 million was distributed to the participants and their family members (63,925 people).

  • As part of its nutrition activities (embedded in emergency, resilience and social protection activities) 5,192 children were screened for malnutrition, of which 180 were found moderately acutely malnourished and 30 severely acutely malnourished.
    The latter were referred to health centers for further care. Also, 18,063 people participated in awarenessraising sessions on hygiene, nutrition and malnutrition.

  • Furthermore, WFP supported the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in implementing the Adaptive Social Protection for Increased Resilience project (PSARA) supporting 77,170 people with USD 574,698.

  • Through its maritime service, WFP transported 355.5 mt of cargo over 15 voyages and supported 5 partners in September with 52 vehicles.
