Operational Updates:

• In May, WFP supported a total of 723,481 people across operations including through the distribution of 72,391 hot meals, USD 733,039 in cash-based transfers (CBT), and 1,443.97 MT of food commodities.

• Through its emergency programmes, WFP reached 204,033 people. Among them, 24,135 received USD 614,900 in CBT, and 142,400 people received 1,431.34 MT of food. WFP also distributed 72,391 hot meals. The majority of these meals (40,296) were distributed to 32,913 people as part of WFP’s response to support returnees from the Dominican Republic at two border crossing locations (Ouanaminthe and Belladère), and IDPs from Mirebalais located in the Centre department.

• Through the school meal programme, WFP reached 486,844 children with 1,142 MT of food. Of those, 326,775 were assisted with 753 MT of locally produced food through the Home-Grown School Meal programme.

• As part of the cross-cutting nutrition activities embedded in emergency, resilience, and social protection initiatives, WFP partners screened 6,568 children (3,359 girls and 3,209 boys) for malnutrition. Of these, 215 girls and 208 boys were referred for Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) treatment, while 48 girls and 57 boys required Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) treatment.

• Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) efforts reached 11,401 people, including 5,175 women, 3,166 men, and 3,060 pregnant and nursing women, promoting better nutrition practices. Additionally, 1,940 girls and 1,315 boys aged 6–23 months living in IDP sites in the metropolitan area received Lipidbased Nutrient Supplements (LNS) through the Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme (BSFP). Households with pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls (PBWG) and/or children aged 6–24 months received cash transfers to prevent malnutrition.
