Operational Updates

  • In March, WFP reached 699,152 beneficiaries with USD 5.3 million in cash-based transfers (CBT) and 1,256 mt of food, including, among others:

ο As part of its emergency response, WFP distributed USD 5.3 million to 158,718 beneficiaries in Artibonite, Centre, Nippes, Nord, Nord-Est, Nord-Ouest, Ouest and Sud departments. In addition, WFP delivered 42.2 mt of food commodities to 2,303 beneficiaries in the Ouest department.

ο Under the school feeding programme, WFP reached 416,885 school children with 1,072 mt in Artibonite, Grand’Anse, Nord, Nord-Est, Nord-Ouest, Ouest and Sud-Est. This included 172,403 school children assisted through the home-grown school feeding programme with 433 mt of food.

ο As part of its resilience activities, WFP assisted 19,435 beneficiaries with USD 354,741 in CBT in the Grand’Anse and Sud departments.

ο Furthermore, WFP supported the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in implementing the Adaptive Social Protection for Increased Resilience project (social protection), assisting 81,680 people with USD 682,108 in the Grand’Anse department.

  • Despite the increased insecurity affecting humanitarian access, WFP used the Martissant Corridor (Port-au-Prince) to transport 27.7 mt of food commodities from Port-au-Prince to the south to assist school children in Carrefour and Belle Anse.

  • WFP offers maritime transport services to the humanitarian community. The service performed 27 voyages in March, transporting 316.5 mt of cargo.
