WFP also distributed 407,534 hot meals to 97,122 people, including 67,155 internally displaced people (IDPs) in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince (342,096 hot meals). The remaining hot meals were distributed to 29,967 people as part of WFP response for IDPs in the Artibonite region and to support returnees from the Dominican Republic at a border crossing in the North.
• Through the school meal programme, WFP reached 468,144 children with 762 MT of food. Of those, 330,472 were assisted with 535 MT of food through the Home-Grown School Meal programme.
• As part of the nutrition activities embedded in emergency, resilience, and social protection initiatives, WFP partners screened 7,775 children (3,867 girls and 3,908 boys) for malnutrition. Of these, 259 girls and 247 boys were referred for Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) treatment, while 51 girls and 60 boys required Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) treatment. Social and Behaviour Change and Communication (SBCC) efforts reached 1,047 pregnant and nursing women, and 931 men, promoting better nutrition practices. Additionally, 818 girls and 812 boys aged 6-24 months living in IDP sites of the metropolitan area received Lipid-based Nutrient Supplements (LNS) through the Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme (BSFP), while 885 households with pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls (PBWG) and/or children aged 6-24 months old received cash transfers to prevent malnutrition.
• Furthermore, WFP supported the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in implementing the Adaptive Social Protection for Increased Resilience project (social protection), providing assistance to 129,770 beneficiaries with USD 2.62 million distributed.
• In parallel, WFP conducted an institutional assessment of the Ministry of Social Affairs' Directorates to identify key improvements for the institutionalization of its social registry. The assessment will support informed decision-making on institutional and systems strengthening, aiming to enhance the Ministry’s capacity to manage and coordinate social protection programmes. This effort is significant for fostering government ownership, strengthening national systems, and contributing to poverty alleviation.
