Operational Updates

  • In December, WFP supported 592,019 people with over USD 2.94 million in cash-based transfers (CBT) and 504.1 mt in food.

  • As part of its emergency response, WFP transferred USD 997,081 to 45,302 people and distributed 17.5 mt of food commodities to 5,310 people. In December, WFP also distributed 24,822 hot meals in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area.

  • Through the school feeding programme, WFP reached 407,539 school children with 486.6 mt of food. This includes 223,360 schoolchildren assisted through the home-grown school meals programme with 349.7 mt of locally sourced products.

  • As part of WFP’s resilience activities, 11,311 households conducted rehabilitation activities and construction of community assets. A total of USD 1.4 million was distributed to the participants and their family members (56,555 people in total)

  • As part of its nutrition activities embedded in emergency, resilience, and social protection activities, 561 children were screened for malnutrition, of which 11 were moderately acutely malnourished and 3 severely acutely malnourished and therefore referred to health centers for further care.

  • Furthermore, WFP supported the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in implementing the Adaptive Social Protection for increased Resilience project (social protection), supporting 72,330 people with USD 553,409.

  • As part of WFP’s climate action in Haiti, heat retention bags were distributed in December to 497 households that participated in Resilience activities in the South of Haiti. A total of 1,150 heat retention bags were distributed over the year including in 350 schools. The heat retention bags reduce energy costs by up to 70 percent for school-prepared recipes, improve cooks' health by reducing indoor pollution by 60 percent, and are made from recycled plastic.
