Despite the challenging operational context in 2023, which was marked by political instability, economic contraction and a spike in violent conflict, WFP Haiti - with the support of its partners and the Government of Haiti - continued its support to populations in the most vulnerable conditions.
Through strategic alignment with national policies and collaborative efforts with various local government entities and United Nations agencies, WFP effectively implemented the last year of its country strategic plan 2019-2023.
This included emergency responses, strengthening nutrition-sensitive safety nets, enhancing smallholder farmer’s market access and building community resilience against shocks. Despite access and funding constraints, WFP ensured that its assistance reached people in the most vulnerable conditions, including internally displaced persons, fulfilling its mandate to address food insecurity
