Yesterday, Sunday 17th January, the third Swedish and MSB humanitarian aid aircraft departed for Haiti.
Onboard were MSB personnel who will set-up the base camp for UN personnel, and other personnel who will work directly for various UN bodies. Additionally, the MSB offered a number of seats for aid workers from Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and the Swedish Red Cross.
The C17 plan that departed on Saturday night from =D6rebro made a stop in the Azores on Sunday, where it remained for several hours for the crew to rest. That plane has now landed in the Dominican Republic.
The cargo plane that departed Stockholm on Saturday has landed in the Dominican Republic, where the WFP and forwarding agents took control of the cargo, i.e. ensuring that the equipment for the tent camp that will be set-up in Haiti is re-loaded and despatched to its destination.
The MSB is preparing for further aid operations in Haiti, but nothing is as yet finalised.
