InterAction Member Organizations Respond to the Earthquake in Haiti

Washington, DC (January 13, 2010)- Several of InterAction's 190 member organizations are working to provide humanitarian assistance in Haiti as it copes with the after effects of its worst earthquake in 200 years. Comprehensive reports of casualties, damage and needs are not yet available. Many of the agencies working in the country are currently focused on assisting with recovery efforts and assessing their organizational capacities - equipment, personnel and structural - as they have also been impacted by the earthquake.

InterAction is coordinating with these member organizations- many with years of experience working within the country-to provide up-to-date information about who is responding to the crisis and how.

A regularly updated list of agencies responding to the crisis in Haiti is available at: http://www.interaction.org/crisis-list/earthquake-haiti

InterAction has also developed guidelines on the most appropriate ways to help those affected by overseas disasters: http://www.interaction.org/how-help
