Haiti - Security : Flooding in the North, the government mobilizes

Following the intense rains in recent days in the north of the country that resulted in several casualties and many damages http://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-16585-icihaiti-flash-intense-rain-alert-in-the-north-many-victims.html , the Government immediately responded to major floods occurred particularly in the cities of Cap-Haitien, Limbé and Limonade.

Following the instructions of Prime Minister Evans Paul, the Ministries : of Interior and Local Government, Public Works and the Environment, have mobilized to help the population. Through the North Emergency Centre (CUN), mattresses, sheets, food and hygienic kits were distributed to the victims. The work of clearing and cleaning are in progress.

The Prime Minister met with deputies of the Northern Department and following discussions, it was decided to send on site, a Joint Commission, composed of deputies and members of the executive, to assess the damage and make recommendations to better organize assistance operations.

In these difficult times through different northern communities, the Government calls for solidarity and the sense of responsibility of all.
