Haiti: Humanitarian Snapshot (September 2016)

Attachments

The humanitarian context in Haiti remains complex and fragile. Cholera epidemic is still high, 28,145 cases were registered between January and 10 September 2016. The binational mixed-migration crisis have reached and surpassed the Humanitarian Response Plan planning figures (more than 141 thousand individuals voluntarily interviewed since June 2015) and floods have affected more than 28 thousand families since January 2016. By the other hand, the food security situation has improved in Haiti during the second half of 2016 due to two main factors: stronger rainfalls during the spring season (March-July), which led to an increased agricultural production and the emergency interventions conducted by humanitarian actors in the communes classified in Crisis (IPC Phase 3). The total number of food insecure people has decreased from 3.6 million in January 2016 to 3.2 million in August 2016, a decrease of about 11% according to the most recent estimates from CNSA.
