SITUATION OVERVIEW

The September 2014 Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) shows that 85,432 individuals remain in 123 IDP sites. From July until September, 4,907 households benefited from rental subsidies and were relocated.

From 1 January to 30 August 2014, 8,657 suspected cases of cholera and 69 fatalities have been registered1. There has been 76% reduction in the number of cases in the first 8 months of 2014 compared to the same period last year. The case fatality rate is below the 1 per cent target rate set by the World Health Organization. The official estimate for 2014 has been revised downward to 15,000 suspected cases, from an initial projection of 45,000 cases, confirming the decreasing trend.

The national emergency response system requires enhancements in the areas of communication and information management while further support is urgently needed to improve the functionality of the operational centers country-wide. Coordination among all actors involved in emergency response activities also needs to be strengthened.
