HIGHLIGHTS
- A total of 51 499 people have been newly displaced following the recent gang attack in Mirebalais.1 Most internally displaced persons (IDPs) are currently located in Boucan Carré, Hinche and Lascahobas.
-Health services in Mirebalais have been severely disrupted as health facilities are no longer functional due to the evacuation of staff.

PAHO/WHO donated 1.5 metric tons of medicines and supplies ‐ including emergency, surgical and trauma kits‐ to the Health Directorate of the Centre department. This contribution will support approximately 50 surgical interventions and over 1 000 primary health care consultations.

PAHO/WHO supported Ministry of Public Health and Population in launching the first National Health Week, held simultaneously in Port au Prince and Cap Haïtien on Monday, April 7, 2025.

The cholera situation remains alarming, with a reported upsurge of suspected cases in Cap Haïtien (17 suspected cases). The overall Case Fatality Rate (CFR) stands at 1.34%, which is above acceptable thresholds.
Contributing factors include poor WaSH conditions and the presence of IDPs. While additional funding is still needed to scale up the epidemiological surveillance and response activities, advocacy efforts by PAHO and UNICEF have helped secure initial support from ECHO for the outgoing outbreak response.
