Haiti - Deportation of Haitians from Dominican Republic (DG ECHO, ONM, OHCHR, HCT/OCHA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 May 2025)

  • 213,580 people have been deported to Haiti from the Dominican Republic between October 2024 and April 2025, for a monthly average of 30,511 people, a 71% increase compared to 2024. Since mid-April, the National Office for Migration (ONM) and humanitarian partners have assisted per day an average of 30 pregnant/breastfeeding women deported.
  • The faster pace of deportations adds to a complex humanitarian crisis affecting millions across the country. More than 1 million people have been displaced by new waves of violence, and 1,617 were killed in the first quarter of 2025. The humanitarian team in Haiti calls for respect of human rights and dignity, and for strengthening regional solidarity to address the crisis.
