Haiti - Cholera outbreak (DG ECHO, DG ECHO Partners, PAHO, UNICEF, Ministry of Public Health and Population) (ECHO Daily Flash of 2 October 2025)

  • In the last week, 70 suspected cases of cholera have been recorded in Port-au-Prince including six deaths. Community transmission is active in three communes compounded by high population density and poor sanitation - Petionville, Delmas et Port au Prince - and classified as red alert by health authorities. Cases are also reported in Cité Soleil, Leogane and Carrefour.

  • Health authorities, with the support of DG ECHO partners, have reinforced health centres and deployed rapid response teams and community health workers for active case detection and management, infection prevention, control and mass sensitisation.
