Despite the increase of cholera cases confirmed in the first quarter of 2015, which increased the total Precipitation Cholera cases number of cases for the year compared to 2014, the number of cholera cases pluvieuse confirmed in September-October-November has gradually decreased. From January to November 2015, more than 31,000 cases and 297 deaths were recorded. The overall case fatality due to the illness has fallen sharply and the high reactivity of EMIRA teams (Mobile Team of Rapid Intervention) of rapid response helped, during the highest risk months of the rainy season (September-October-November), to reduce the number of cases to the lowest level observed in these periods since the beginning of the cholera epidemic in Haiti in 2010.
