Following the armed violence that erupted on 1 March in Saut-d’Eau, the UN and partners delivered assistance to support communities facing escalating insecurity in the Centre department. Tensions escalated again at the end of March when armed groups expanded their presence in Mirebalais, leading to significant new displacement. Despite efforts to strengthen the response, humanitarian actors have not been able yet to provide assistance to an estimated 39,000 IDPs in host families and to expand their activities in the lower plateau central due to insecurity.
