Haiti: Armed attacks and displacements in the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince - Situation Report #11 (4 - 10 January 2025)

Attachments

CONTEXT

• The Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area (ZMPAP) remains the epicentre of violence and displacement in the country. Despite this, humanitarians remain present and continue to respond to the urgent needs faced by vulnerable children, women and men.

• The number of displaced people in the capital increased by 87 per cent over the year to December 2024, according to figures published by IOM. This rapid increase has put pressure on displacement sites, many of which face deteriorating conditions and lack access to basic services such as food, clean water, sanitation, and education.

• Restrictions on road access to the port as a result of the actions of armed groups risk disrupting humanitarian operations by delaying or preventing partners from accessing critical imported supplies.
