HIGHLIGHTS

• The Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area (ZMPAP) remains the epicentre of violence in the country, driving displacement and hindering access.

• Despite the difficult context, humanitarian actors are continuing their efforts to meet the basic needs of those who have been displaced. Humanitarian activity undertaken this week includes providing access to drinking water, distributing food and hot meals and providing financial support, to support vulnerable women, children and men.

• The Humanitarian Response Plan 2024, 42 per cent funded at the end of the year, has enabled a response to some of the critical needs identified, but the humanitarian needs remain significant.

SITUATION OVERVIEW

Funding for the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan received 42 per cent of the funds needed to be fully implemented by the end of December, enabling assistance to be provided to a significant number of displaced and vulnerable families. Nevertheless, humanitarian actors have not been able to reach all those in need due insufficient funding, and the scale of humanitarian needs.

The coordination of humanitarian actors is continuing, with particular attention being paid to the situation of displaced people and their access to essential services in displacement sites.
