GOAL Haiti earthquake response - latest developments
In cooperation with the Irish Government and the Department of Foreign Affairs, GOAL is accepting a delivery of non-food items including jerry cans, Mosquito nets, blankets, soap, generators and sleeping mats into Port-au-Prince by air tomorrow (Friday).
We are also in the process of gathering a plane-load of emergency supplies in Florida to fly in to the crisis-hit country, where an estimated three million people are desperately in need of help.
The GOAL team on the ground in Haiti is being augmented with logisticians, civil engineers and other individuals with experience of Third World conditions and we are continuing to appeal for similar people to urgently get in touch with the organisation.
GOAL has pledged €250,000 for immediate relief, but we expect that the operation will be a substantial one and will require further allocations of money.
GOAL can be reached at PO Box 19, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, at 01-2809779, or by visiting www.goal.ie.
