The World Food Programme as Logistics Cluster lead is maintaining a Logistics Cluster Cell in Port-auPrince, which coordinates the mobilisation and use of logistics assets and provision of logistics support services to the Humanitarian Community.
Since 12 January 2010, over 100 Logistics Cluster coordination meetings have been held, predominantly in Port-au-Prince, but on an ad-hoc basis also in CapHaitien, Gonaives, Jacmel, Petit Goave and Les Cayes.
Representatives from over 220 different organisations, including UN agencies,
UN affiliated organizations, NGOs, military responders, and government, have attended these meetings.
In November 2011, the 2012 Humanitarian Action Plan as well as the transition plan was finalised, highlighting the continuity of coordination activities during the first half of 2012; however logistics services – transport and storage – will be provided by WFP Logistics on a “cost-recovery” basis as of 01 January 2012. The Logistics Cluster also aims to reinforce capacity strengthening activities with the Direction de la Protection Civile (DPC) and the Centre National de l’Information Géo-Spatiale (CNIGS).
