Operational Updates
• Emergency assistance to crisis-affected people. WFP continued to provide life-saving food and nutrition assistance to crisis-affected populations. In May, WFP provided cash-based transfers to 30,588 beneficiaries, including children under five, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and persons with reduced mobility. This assistance targeted the most vulnerable populations identified through the national targeting system, under the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) support.
• The “1000 Days” Project. On 28 May, WFP collaborated with government ministries and partners to host a workshop aimed at consolidating data on multisectoral interventions in agriculture, health, education, nutrition, food security, and social protection. The “1000 Days” project, targeting chronic malnutrition prevention, continued in 99 health facilities, reaching 8,420 motherchild pairs. Activities included the distribution of ready-touse supplementary food to children aged 6–24 months, hygiene kit provision, and awareness-raising sessions.
• Building resilient communities. WFP contributes to changing lives in Guinea through fostering long-term solutions while providing support to build more resilient communities. With funding from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MAFRA), WFP Guinea signed Field Level Agreements with eight local NGOs across Boké, Faranah, Kissidougou, Guéckédou, and N'zérékoré. These agreements launched a series of community-based initiatives, including agroforestry projects, which will continue through the end of 2025.
• The United Nations Humanitarian Air Service. UNHAS transported 219 passengers between Conakry, Nzérékoré, Siguiri, and Kissidougou. An urgent appeal for US$ 2 million was developed to ensure the continuation of UNHAS operations beyond September 2025.
